Dickens World opening postponed

Theme park owners have been forced to cancel the opening of their multi-million pound Dickens World in Chatham, Kent, which had expected to open for Easter.

Operators called an emergency meeting yesterday after learning animated figures shipped in from the United States were not going to be ready in time for the proposed opening on Friday.

It is a massive blow to the £62m project which was expected to open in time for Easter. Delays had already forced bosses to settle for next Friday April 20.

The theme pargk boasts the biggest indoor boat ride in the World.
Dickens World will take you back to the late 19th century, complete with cobbled streets, shops, pubs, live burlesque shows and a boat ride through a theme park version of old London sewers.
