Canadian travelers are strongly urged to have their own travel medical insurance when leaving the country. The Canadian government will only reimburse partial, if any, of medical expenses that are incurred outside of Canada. The money spent on travel coverage is well worth it; one accident/injury can result in thousands of dollars of unreimbursed medical bills.
